Edward Mann is seeking a Finance Business Partner on behalf on behalf of a well-respected top tier University based in Sydney. The University works to change lives through learning & research, focused on making a real impact.
The role can be based in Sydney or Perth and is offering up to 170k package. There are also great hybrid working arrangements and the chance to progress through the organisation.
You will be responsible for providing high level advice & recommendations to executives and senior management. You will work with specific operations & faculty units and facilitate decision making through insights to business performance. The primary objective will be efficiency!
The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team and be highly technical in; analysing group funding requirements, performing budgeting, generating financial reports, understanding costs and ensuring controls are maintained. The ideal candidate will enjoy partnering and engaging with people on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities:
Lead a client focused model to enable University work units are informed on financial decision making and planning.
Advise senior staff and executives on strategy and new initiatives that complement the Strategic Plan objectives and reflect financial performance.
Work to gain a comprehensive knowledge of each portfolio, provide expert analyses to Executive staff on financial status, trends, and risks. Using data to create financial models that accurately depict real time and future trends.
Work closely with the Director of Financial Performance and Analytics to inform the development of BI reporting. Tableau
Through comprehensive financial reporting and analytics, partake in effective communication to stakeholders of financial positioning and trends.
Provide high-level expertise and a comprehensive knowledge of financial considerations in business strategy, risk management and performance. Advise on complex or escalated issues that arise.
With consideration to organisational drivers and strategic direction, drive organisational financial outcomes and enable stakeholders to manage cost centre expenses within agreed budgets.
Support the design of insightful management reporting, focusing on the key business drivers for each area and continuously improve the overall quality, content and timeliness of reporting.
Support the Finance Business Partners to influence University work areas with financial decision making and improve the understanding of financial planning and reporting. Promote high levels of client service, consistency across work units and effective financial management.
Ensure financial governance is maintained and that appropriate controls are in place.
Drive continuous process improvement and identify opportunities to enhance business practices.
Engage staff in the constant review of current processes and lead a culture of innovation.
Maintain an awareness of the trends within the Higher Education sector related to financial. management and performance.
Work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Develop agile solutions in response to changes in environment or circumstance.
Other duties as required, commensurate with the level of appointment.
Desirables:
CA/CPA Qualification – Those without/studying to wards will still be considered.
Experience in creating financial models.
Able to engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Excellent written, verbal, listening, presentational and interpersonal communication skills.
Sound judgement, interpretative skills and informed decision making.
Able to analyse results and problem solve.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate with all levels of management, staff and consultants.
